Stantec Announces Multi-Year Partnership to Support Innovation in the Water Sector
Leading global design firm, Stantec has formalized a new partnership with the World Water-Tech (WWT) Summit Series to explore new ideas and implement the new technologies and approaches that will fuel the next generation of water industry advancements. With climate change, water scarcity, aging infrastructure, and new regulations impacting the water industry, innovative approaches to providing affordable and equitable water services are needed for utilities big and small.
The first collaboration – the World Water-Tech Innovation Summit – has become the industry’s annual meeting for driving innovation in the global water ecosystem, and will take place in London on February 22-23, 2022. The summit brings together utilities, regulators, start-ups, technology giants, engineers, and investors from all over the globe to find solutions to today’s challenges of digitization, security, resource and energy recovery, and establishing new water resources. In addition to Stantec’s partnership with WWT, Damian Crawford, Stantec head of smart networks and leakage has joined the organization’s advisory board to steer the ongoing conversation around the issues that face the water sector.
Stantec recently established the Stantec Institute for Water Technology & Policy to lead the discussion with industry, clients, and other stakeholders around the globe to explore the real-world impacts of a changing climate on the sustainability of water, and to identify, develop, and de-risk new innovations in the water industry. The Institute is focused on identifying technology and policy solutions to preserve and protect water quantity and quality that are both technologically available and achievable at any scale.
“Stantec is excited to enter into this new partnership and help advance the conversations being had by senior business and utility leaders regarding innovations in water, turn ideas into action, and amplify their success stories around the globe,” said Dr. Art Umble, Director of the Stantec Institute. “This is a natural fit with our Institute, where our team is unlocking the possibilities of science by bringing together the critical thinking, technology, tools, and the insights enabling water innovation, but more importantly, allowing our clients to enhance human health and well-being in their communities.”
“We’re delighted to be back in-person in London for the 11th edition of the World Water-Tech Innovation Summit next February. It’s a pleasure to welcome Stantec as Platinum Partner, as we address the most pressing challenges facing the future of the water and wastewater industries,” said Jennie Moss, Founder and Managing Director at Rethink Events.
Like the WWT Summit Series, Stantec has been working to elevate the tech and innovation ecosystem across many platforms and business sectors. In 2020, the Stantec Office of Innovation was created to identify, incubate, accelerate, and operationalize client-focused research into scalable infrastructure solutions. Stantec Water leads the industry with our innovative approach, balancing technological innovation with environmental, regulatory, and economic needs. This new partnership will help both organizations, and the industry confront global water challenges and transition to a digital future for the water and wastewater sectors.
A sustainable water future is complex and dynamic.
