With climate change and population growth accelerating water stress around the world, should managing leakage become our #1 priority in the global water industry?
Steve Kaye, CEO, UK WATER INDUSTRY RESEARCH
A series of four industry-leading water-tech presentations on effectively and innovatively tackling leakage (co-presented between buyer and provider)
Topics to include:
• Trenchless technology, renewal strategy and pipe tech
• Advanced detection
• Dynamic pressure management
• In-situ monitoring and virtual reality exploration
• Data capture, IoT and AoT
• Distributed rain capture (mitigate leakage with new water sources)
Our Challenge: How can the water industry achieve zero leakage?
• List of priority areas for action to move towards zero leakage;
• Multiple ideas
• A number of more detailed propositions for potential solutions to be developed.
We’ll use Design sprint methodology and tools to guide and drive the process.
A Design Sprint is a time-constrained, systematic process for answering critical business questions through design, prototyping, and testing new ideas with users usually in a one to five day duration workshop. It is widely used by Google, Lego and many other organisations known for innovation (including Northumbrian Water!). It’s fast paced and challenging – and in our zero leakage mini-sprint we’ll go step by step through the whole process to get from big problem to potential solution in just 2 hours. In addition to providing a taster of Design Sprint methodology, we’ll demonstrate that it’s possible to think big and generate solutions to address real world challenges – fast.
